Tour day 13

Today started out windy. As you can see.

Our goal is to travel from our hotel in Grant's New Mexico to Albuquerque New Mexico at a distance of 79 miles. Here is the information for the ride and the weather.

At least it was reasonably warmer than the last few days. It was right around 50 degrees. Unfortunately we started out into a headwind. The first 24 were on route 66.  So cool. Had our sag or rest stop which we needed after riding into the wind. Beautiful though as you can see.

As the day went the wind increased. Sustained minimum 25 to 35 miles per hour  with gusts to 50.

They did not lie. There were a few times the crosswind almost blew me over. Our tour group watched over us to make sure we were ok. Had another flat again. Huge staple wherever it came from. Here are more pics of the beautiful area we rode.

That last stop at the casino was needed from the crosswinds. If you noticed the flag it was straight across. Huge flag at a dealership if you know how  big they are. We then entered the city of Albuquerque New Mexico and crossed the Rio Grande.

Today was a very tough day with unrelenting wind. It can be your friend or your enemy. Enemy today but everybody made it in ok. Can't fight mother nature. Dealing with the elements. Here is a pic from our window.

Tomorrow is another day. Looking forward to Sante Fe New Mexico and only 67 miles. More climbing than descending. We have almost achieved 1000 miles. This is such a beautiful country. We are so fortunate. Check out the ride.

Thanks for following.
