Tour day 28

Was not to sure how I'd be feeling after that tough 97 miler yesterday. Temperature was 68 ( to warm for me ) degrees. Sunny and some wind. More hills. Not sure what Missouri holds for us. Here is the itinerary and weather.

Our first sag was at the 31 mile mark. What made it special is the town came out for us. That included the children in Maryville Missouri.  We entered 2 abreast as the children cheared us on into town. There was a table set up in front of DeKalb County Historical Society across from the courthouse. Had peanut butter and jelly sandwich with homemade pink lemonade.  Quite tasty. Here are some pics of the kids and the table with the group. Also went through the museum which is reflected and the countryside leading into town.

Can anyone tell me what those canisters are in that corner? It started to get into the mid 80s and wind in our face. Rolling hills and plenty of them. Some very long and steep. Here are some pics leading up to our last sag stop at 71 miles.

Still lots of flooding as you shall see. Lots of other stuff to see also. Loved the sign for that guys property. Sag was needed. Out of water. Stay hydrated. Can't with no liquids. Here's the stop and other pics leading into Chillicothe.

Hope you looked close at the bike sign. Yes those are bullet holes. We are not a fan favorite of these guys other than Maryville. Their problem not mine. Again another funny sign. All that water you saw came from that river. Flooded both sides of the road. Found out today the only road available into St. Joseph was the one we road on. No wonder they were upset. Not just about us. Well it was a very tough day and I am very tired. Heading to Kirksville Missouri tomorrow. Only 75 miles and approximately 148 hills. Nice. Almost forgot to share with you Chillicothe is home to sliced bread and long distance cycling. Here is relive to relive the day!

Hope you enjoyed and thanks for following. Only 21 more days to go.

  1. The "cannisters" are grain silos. I'm so glad you got to stop in Maysville, a huge highlight of the trip.
