Tour day 16
The day started out in the 50s. Really nice and comfortable. We are leaving beautiful Sante Fe. Since we had a rest day yesterday here are some pics of the city from yesterday.
Ate at the Maven for brunch. They have won numerous awards as you can see. The church is called Loretto Chapel. It is noted for the legend of the staircase from around 1880. Look it up. Interesting story.
Back to the ride for today. Leaving Sante Fe New Mexico to LAS VEGAS!
Oh, New Mexico that is. Not like the strip in Nevada. The ride will be 73 miles, 3827 feet climbing and 4014 descending. Today we pass 1000 mile mark. Only 2400 miles to go. Left town climbing and didn't stop till we hit 7570 feet. Downhill, from there but long rollers. You get up one and then it just continues to another. Here was the weather and itinerary also and the group raring to go.
Lots of history here and great sights.
We arrived in town and are staying at a very old hotel with lots of history. The Plaza.
Got Howard taking a siesta with his legs on Elizabeth his wife and Nan. Waiting for our rooms. The lady's are great riders.
Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Picked up a new rider name of Barry. Just going to ride a few sections. Has riden all of the route in the past except this. These rails in lots of the roads keep cattle from crossing from one side to the other. What will they think of next.
Tomorrow we leave Los Vegas New Mexico for Tucumcari New Mexico. Through the desert for 110 miles. Long day ahead of us. Hope the weather cooperates.
