Tour day 26

Started out a very warm day. 70 degrees to start. Wind was not a factor. Dont think it was more than 8 miles per hour and was a tail, cross, head and no wind. All over the board. Temperature reached 93 degrees which is not good for me. 82 miles of undulating hills.  Kinda fun going up and down them. So much for the chatter here is the weather and itinerary.

Definitely a farming community as you can see along with it geting greener.  Amazing the change as we head east.

This is what we saw leading up to our first sag or rest stop at 21 miles. Nice ride up to that point. Heat is just starting to kick in.  Little towns and beautiful scenery, endless roads and unique artisans. Bicycles were an item. Not sure these were the remnants of those that passed before us. Literally. Go figure. There is a story behind the vulture just so you know and why I stopped. Yes that is a ball of barbed wire. The windmills were in pretty bad shape as you will see. The drive with all the white posts had cute birdhouses. Lots of stuff going on out here.

Our last chosen stop was at pie shop. Well worth the it. Had strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream. For those that know me I burn on an average of 5500 calories a day. I can have pie. Here is my roommate Ovi and the young lady that took care of us.  He had 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and I only had one. For those who would ask.

It's time to finish the ride off. Temperature in the 90s and lots of rolling hills. An adventure it is. Here are the pictures leading into town. More creativity from the locals. Bicycles again were a main theme of artisans. Scary stuff.

I am so glad all of us made it in. Bit tired from the heat and all the hills. Also had to change the back tire that I did something to. Glad I made it without a flat. Felt good taking a shower since it is so much warmer and humid. Tomorrow is another 80 plus mile day. By the way today is our halfway point of 1695 miles. Topeka is also the capital of Kansas for those that didn't know.  Here is relive to see the ride.

Tomorrow is 6th state line crossing. Hello St. Joseph Missouri. Talking Lewis and Clark and the pony Express. Thanks again for the interest.
